how can i prepare for my interview with ge? what should i expect?
if you are interviewed on your college campus, prepare for behavioral interview questions. the interview session will consist of time for the interviewer to ask you questions about your past experiences and offer time for you to ask questions. if you applied online, you may be interviewed over the phone, and the process is the same.

before the interview-

assess your skills. plan a quiet hour to assess your general technical and interpersonal skills. make sure you focus on skills that you can bring to the job.
know your resume. be prepared to discuss every aspect of your work experience and educational background in detail. read it over in the days leading up to the interview to fully familiarize yourself with each entry.
practice. enlist the help of a friend or family member to practice talking about yourself. videotape youself in the practice interview. this gives you a chance to critique your performance.
allow adequate time. arrive at the interview location ten or fifteen minutes early to get acclimated with your surroundings. this will help you relax and focus on your performance.

during the interview-
first impressions. remember that you are interviewing for a professional position. dress neatly in business attire. be sure to shake hands firmly. it's the easiest way to express your confidence and break the ice with your interviewer.
body language. this says a lot more about you than you think. don't be too rigid or too relaxed - simply sit up straight with both feet on the floor. lean slightly toward your interviewer to show that you are interested.
concentrate. be careful not to let your mind wander, remember why you're there. focus on each question asked to give the best response you can. don't rush your answers. if you need a moment to think before providing a certain answer, take it. your interviewer will understand.
be honest. represent your background and skills as accurately as possible. exaggerations or outright lies are often easier to spot than you think, and can be taken as an attempt to hide a problem.
understand the question. if a question isn't clear, ask for a clarification so you'll have a chance to deliver the best response. don't just give yes or no answers, but respect the interviewer's time by answering questions as thoroughly as you can without going off on tangents.
positively self-promote. your work experience and educational background won you the interview - speak proudly and positively about both. don't apologize for a lack of experience, emphasize your strong points instead.
be yourself. don't act, exaggerate or put on airs. relax and let your true personality shine. be polite, energetic, positive, and interested!

ge conducts behavioral style interviews. preparation should include answering questions about your experiences such as, "tell me about a time when..." or "give me an example of..." past behavior is one of the best predictors of success in a job. ge conducts behavioral based interviews in order to assess future potential by gaining information about skills, accomplishments and talents that have been demonstrated in actual situations.

what happens next? even when interviewers are impressed with students they will rarely make promises. that's because they must review your qualifications with the hiring managers before making commitments. you should expect to hear back from ge within 2 weeks of your campus interview or 1 week from a phone interview. if your interviewer has a different time frame, he or she will let you know at the end of the interview
