摘 要
《紅樓夢》中涉及到的人物有772人。學術界對賈寶玉、林黛玉、薛寶釵乃至賈探春等形象的有關研究論著、論文很多。相比之下，賈母這1極重要的形象，則處于相對弱勢的研究領域。我認為在作品中寶釵城府，黛玉狹窄，探春謀略，迎春懦弱，惜春冷漠，襲人奸佞，晴雯驕躁，談到人物的真實生動哪個也比不上賈母。眾人稱賈母為老太太，阿鳳稱之老祖宗，僧稱老菩薩，劉姥姥稱老壽星，這就指出了賈母形象的豐富、鮮活與多元。眾稱號都冠以“老”字，表明其年齡特征。確實，在她身上老年人的言談、舉止、心態都顯得很突出。她信奉世俗享樂主義，愛熱鬧怕寂寞，因而，1幕幕子孫承歡膝下、共盡天倫、其樂融融的生活劇才得以上演，擺家筵、吃壽酒、共賞戲等豐富多彩的場面才得以展現。有人將賈母的形象歸納為3點：第1，她不是1般的母親，而是地位更高層、環境更復雜的老祖母；第2，她說明了1個女家長在中國社會上的權威與才能；第3，她被塑造成中國大家庭老太太最完整最形象化的典型。”她與已往史傳、小說、戲曲中缺乏個性神采的賢母、惡婦形象相距不啻天壤，她復雜真實，保持著性格張力。
